Marilyn Chambers

A month after her autopsy was performed and deemed inconclusive, the cause of Marilyn Chambers’ sudden death has come to light. RadarOnline.com has learned exclusively that the adult film star died from a cerebral hemorrhage and aneurysm related to heart disease.

Chambers, whose real name was Marilyn Ann Taylor, was found dead at her Canyon Country, Calif., home on April 12. She skyrocketed to fame in 1972 as the star of the first widely released pornographic film Behind the Green Door.

Toxicology reports also indicated the presence of two drugs- hydrocodone and Citalopram- in normally prescribed amounts in her system. Hydrocodone is found in Vicodin among other drugs and is most commonly used as an analgesic and cough suppressant. Citalopram is an antidepressent used to treat depression, mood disorders, and anxiety.

ABC entertainment president Steve McPherson says his network’s remake of the 1980s miniseries “V” could consist of four seasons, planned in advance, each with 13-22 episodes each (more on this, and ABC’s fall schedule, here). The show is planned for midseason.

Below are two first-look previews and based on these, my hopes for the show are up. We’ve seen alien invasion stories so many times before, the challenge is to bring something new.

The second video in particular is a nicely done, tense scene, with Scott Wolf (and hey, he still looks like him) playing a journalist landing an interview with the alien leader (played by Brazilian actress Morena Baccarin). Every reporter’s dream/nightmare.

ZOMBIES

“In light of recent disturbing events like the global recession, the outbreak of H1N1, the ban on Canadian seal products, I fear a zombie attack is imminent,” explains Rosie Magellan of British Columbia, Canada. “So I’ve developed a Zombie Emergency Response Plan, or ZERP as I like to call it, for my community.”

“After the zombie movie Shaun of the Dead came out on DVD”, she continues, “I frequently heard the actors from the film stressing the importance of having one’s own plan for a zombie attack. I didn’t give this much thought because, well, they’re actors. What do they know? I mean, I have a Ph.D. in Comparative Syntax of Extinct Languages so I’m confident in my knowledge of everything. However, given the downward spiral in the state of the world, it’s only logical that zombies will be the next plague that hits us. My apologies to those young men for doubting them”

I am sitting with Rosie in the living room of her wood frame bungalow. She lives in a village on a lake, nestled in the central interior of British Columbia. “I feel compelled to share this information with my American cousins. Even though we live in different sociolinguistic regions, there may be certain aspects of our ZERP that you can apply to your own.”

“The nearest city”, she tells me, “is 96.315168 miles away, I converted that from kilometres, so we’re a bit isolated. This means we’re on our own in an emergency. We have three seasons: winter, not quite winter, and July.

With this in mind, there’s one feature of a zombie we can use to our advantage. Zombies lack the ability to feel physical discomfort so would be unaware they were becoming hypothermic. Lacking the sense to come in out of the cold or put on a coat, they would eventually develop hypothermia in cold temperatures. The effects of hypothermia are weakness and loss of muscle co-ordination. This would slow down the zombies, even immobilize them if temperatures were cold enough, providing a safe and easy opportunity to knock their brains out.”

Rosie picks up a book that looks strangely like an owners manual for a Plymouth Voyager. “My husband and I each wrote sections of this”, she says, and begins to read.

Sonic Youth will perform July 12 at 8 pm at Sloss Furnaces.

The experimental rock band, formed in New York City by Thurston Moore and Kim Gordon, was extremely influential in the post-punk movement of the 1980s. Sonic Youth combined fearless innovation with a do-it-yourself aesthetic, producing about six albums for indie labels.

Early ’90s recordings for Geffen, such as “Goo,” “Dirty,” and “Experimental Jet Set, Trash and No Star” brought the band to national attention. Sonic Youth has continued to chart its own course since then, with avant-garde tracks, instrumentals and forays into noise jam.

The group has a new disc, “The Eternal,” set for release June 9 on the Matador label. Hear the lead track, “Sacred Trickster.”

All tickets available online now at Ticketmaster.
