The CW Network has provided us with a brand new video for the first Smallville episode of 2010, entitled Disciple. The show returns to it’s 9th on Friday, January 22 to the CW Network. Click below for a glimpse at the TV spot for the episode!

Clark Kent has had something of a strained relationship with his paternal Kryptonian father over the years. But that’s just what happens when a guy has to deal with the disembodied psychic computer version of a dad he never knew.

Well, as we reported back in September, a kinder, gentler Jor-El may just meet his son in the flesh for the first time in the Nov. 6 episode of “Smallville” entitled “Kandor.”

ComicsContinuum has an image gallery that previews actor Julian Sands portraying Superman’s scientist father Jor-El in traditional Kyrptonian threads, plus an episode synopsis from The CW. While it was originally believed that Sands would star in a flashback of some kind, it looks like his character could be entering mainstream continuity.

Jor-El’s appearance on Earth comes after nine seasons of his presumed death. Until now, a powerful artificial intelligence unit that stored his memories had been guiding Clark to embrace his Kryptonian side, resulting in the would-be Superman donning a Neo look and calling himself the Blue Blur while moonlighting as a crime fighter in Metropolis.

If Clark’s alien father has truly returned from the lost city of Kandor, it could mean big trouble for the young Man of Steel, especially if his criminal rival Zod finds him first. There’s also the small matter of the fate of Clark’s Kryptonian cousin, Kara, who left to find Kandor last season.

“Smallville” has been pretty hectic of late with a bevy of guest stars, including the Wonder Twins, Speedy and an upcoming appearance by the Justice Society. It remains to be seen just how the return of Jor-El will factor into what’s shaping up to be a busy season, but fans will be watching with eyes wide open.

In “Rabid,” the title of the Smallville episode airing Friday, October 9, Clark finally asks out Lois:

“I was hoping that we could grab something to eat tonight. Not that I’m saying that we should go on a date.”

And, evil Kryptonian Zod releases a virus that will turn humans zombies. After Lois is infected, the only way Clark can save her is by giving her an antidote made from his own blood!

Also, according to Aceshowbiz.com, the CW is looking to add another hero to the cast of Smallville. Described as “the most handsome and sexy of ALL the D.C. superheroes,” the actor they are looking for is a male aged 37 to 48 year old who has a “fantastic physique.”

Smallville is jumping on the zombie bandwagon.

Yesterday, we told you about the upcoming Medium-Night of The Living Dead mash-up. Now comes word that Clark Kent will be dealing with the undead in a season nine episode of Smallville.

The ep, called “Rabid,” will see a virus infecting the city of Metropolis that turns people into zombies. Click through to find out which two Smallville regulars will get infected.

The series most appealing ladies (sorry Chloe!) Tess Mercer and Lois Lane will reportedly be infected by the zombie plague. Actor Cameron Bancroft (24) will play Dr. Coats, a virologists working to either strengthen or stop the plague – we’re really not sure yet.

After Marvel Zombies, the Zombieland hype and the upcoming Star Wars zombie novel, I might be sick of the walking dead once this ep makes it to air. I’ll still watch it, of course. I wouldn’t want to miss watching Clark possibly use his heat vision to decapitate a walking corpse.

Actress Jennifer Love Hewitt believes that she is the perfect choice to play Amazonian superhero ‘Wonder Woman’ because she has the requisite physique for the part.

The ‘Ghost Whisperer’ actress wants to reprise the role made famous by ‘Lynda Carter’ in the cult 70s TV series, Contactmusic reported.

“I want to play Wonder Woman really badly. I want them to make the movie of ‘Wonder Woman’, and I want to play Wonder Woman so bad. That’d be really fun.

“I’m curvaceous. Gold bracelets! Look at these wrists… tell me gold bracelets would not look good! And I love little tiaras, and Wonder Woman got to wear one of those. I’m very athletic,” the actress said.

However the actress faces tough competition to land her dream role.

Singer-and-actress Beyonce Knowles, ‘High School Musical’ star Vanessa Hudgens and actress Jessica Biel are among those who have recently said they would love the chance to take on the title role in the much-speculated movie.

It has been announced that Watchmen and X-Men screenwriter, David Hayter, will help develop and write the screenplay for an adaptation of the on-going comic book series, Deadworld. The post-apocalyptic zombie story is being adapted for the big-screen by Dark Horse Studio partners Hayter and Benedict Carver, along with Pandemonium’s Bill Mechanic. As well as writing and developing it, Hayter will also conceive and design the look of the film. Gary Reed, who currently owns the rights through his Caliber Comics company, will exec produce the movie.

Published by Image Comics, Deadworld is set in a post-apocalyptic world where flesh-eating undead rule the earth with humans being very few and far between. The protagonist of the comic is King Zombie, “a Harley-riding corpse who holds a grudge against the survivors who made him an outcast.”

As Matt Goldberg at Collider points out, the only thing that’ll set the Deadworld movie apart from other zombie tales is that it’s told from the perspective of the zombies. However, that still doesn’t stop the comparisons to the likes of Dawn of the Dead, 28 Days Later, Land of the Dead, Day of the Dead, and any other zombie films you can think of. I hope the zombie perspective angle can make it feel original as something like Shaun of the Dead felt, even if at it’s core it’ll just add to the ever-growing zombie movie list.

The Deadworld comic became noted for it’s gory artwork, both on the cover and on the inside pages. Although even if they translate literally what’s on the page to the big-screen, it won’t be that shocking in today’s movie-going age where we have gore-fests like the Hostel and Saw series’. I still hope they keep it consistent from page-to-screen. With Hayter involved, who practically co-translated Watchmen page-for-page from graphic novel to movie, I think the source material will be kept pretty faithful to.

I’ve always had my eye on Hayter as a creative talent ever since he wrote the first X-Men movie (as well as the second one)… well, maybe before then when I used to play the Metal Gear Solid games in marathon sessions (in case you don’t know, Hayter does the voice of Solid Snake in the series). Even though, as I said, he basically word-for-word translated Watchmen from page-to-screen, I still say that was an extremely difficult task to take on. And as far as I’m concerned – and this is coming from someone who’s never had the pleasure of sitting down with a copy of the graphic novel – Hayter (along with co-writer Alex Tse) did a fantastic job with Watchmen.

Hayter, the artwork and the unique zombie perspective story is what makes me interested in seeing Deadworld turned into a movie. Here’s hoping this particular zombie project stands out amongst the many, many others that are already out there in movie land.

Paramount has released the first peek at Mickey Rourke as Whiplash, and he’s geared up to wreck havoc for Tony Stark in “Iron Man 2.”

The actor is seen sporting a partial exoskeleton with a power pack on his chest reminiscent of Iron Man’s own.

The character’s alter ego, Ivan Vanko, is a Russian who “has constructed his own version of a suit,” director Jon Favreau told USA Today. He also wields a pair of whips, which are powered by his exoskeleton and should make him a formidable foe for the armored superhero.

Rourke told the paper that Whiplash “is going to light them up.”

Whiplash, along with The Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) will take on Iron Man in the eagerly anticipated sequel, due in theaters May 7, 2010.
